Electric winches are cable winches which can be controlled and moved by an electric motor. This motor takes over all efforts. In principle, such a device has been designed to facilitate the transport or transfer of heavy loads. The object to be lifted is pulled up with the help of a rope. The rope is usually supported over a cylindrical body, a drum, so that the majority of the weight is supported on this drum and the required force is now less than half as great. The heavy goods are then pulled up by electric motors and transported to their final destination by other transport technology, such as overhead cranes. Often cable winches are also connected to other equipment such as cranes or work with them at the same time. This guarantees immense energy and power savings. The ropes used are made of a wide variety of materials. For very heavy loads and objects, ropes made of very strong and resilient materials are usually used. Steel ropes are particularly suitable for this purpose. Recently, however, so-called plasma ropes made of ultra-high-molecular polyethylene have also been used. Basically, however, the more drum systems or, in simplified terms, pulley blocks, the less tensile force is required to lift the load.
