Data Archiving  Manufacturers, Traders, Suppliers

Anyone who performs operations on a computer, should definitely think about archiving data. This involves on the one hand fulfilling legal requirements. The commercial code and in the related tax rules a retention period for accounting positions of between 2 to 10 years is mentioned. During this period you must store old documents in a way and manner that is required. Or you should be able to provide the appropriate reading devices. For this reason, a structured data archiving is important so that not too much valuable time is lost in searching for documents. Imagine the not so rare event before data archiving when suddenly from the customer side is asked: A customer requires a statement from the previous year and the search begins.

Another purpose of the data archiving is to protect against errors in the IT infra-structure. Those who keep their orders, designs and process steps only unsecured on a single disk is an almost irresponsible risk-taker. If there is a memory element defective or water damage occurs to the IT, the magnetic memory can be deleted irrevocably. Also on the other hand data archiving helps. This - rather short time context - is spoken of as backup.
