Paternoster racks are an important part of modern logistics. This type of shelf is a so-called"carousel". It works according to the same principle as the paternoster pull-out. The name of this privilege was derived from the counting chain, the "Rosary". Similar to this rosary, shelves are arranged, which can move around to the user as required. This enables the ladderless use of very high shelves. Paternoster racks are used especially in modern logistics and high-bay warehouses. This means that a load does not have to be removed from the ragal compartment from a great height with a forklift, but practically to ground level. These racks are very often computer-controlled and can be controlled by the forklift driver. Different from the paternoster lift, the paternoster rack uses two synchronously controlled drives. In this way, the load can be better distributed and a higher utilization can be achieved. A paternoster rack known to all is used in the trade for the storage of floor coverings. Here the carpet or linoleum rolls hang on top of each other on several floors. Depending on requirements, the desired roll can be brought to ground level for closer inspection or processing. This principle is the same as for shelves used in logistics, except that instead of the shelves a bar is used to hang up the rolls.
