Machine description
The flat guided rigid bed milling machines KIHEUNG RiGiTRAX convince by their machine concept - the best of bed type milling machine and travelling column milling machine combined in one machine.
The RiGiTRAX machine series are the ideal large milling machines for extreme table loads (3,500 kg / m²), combined with a high chip volume and excellent geometric manufacturing accuracy.
Through the combination of dynamic linear guides and "stable" flat guides, the RiGiTRAX achieves a cutting performance with high geometric accuracy that is almost unique in this machine class. Here too, the boom is designed in the FLAT-Ram design in which all drive and transmission units, such as the spindle motor, ZF transmission or belt pulley are placed on the rear area of the boom.
All models of the RiGiTRAX series, have large traverse paths - X-axis up to 10,000 mm, extensive standard equipment and extensive options (e.g. infinitely variable automatic milling heads, tool changing systems, cooling through the spindle, chip conveyor systems and much more)! With these possibilities the KIHEUNG milling machines can be adapted optimally to your present and future machining needs.
Main assemblies

• Bed, table, tower, saddle, boom and head are made of quality cast iron GG 300. Own foundries with in-house quality control guarantee a constant quality and corresponding geometry of the machine base.
• Heavy machine bed with complex, CAD designed internal ribbing. In the rear bed area to accommodate the moving column linear double guides (see also feeds / guideways) in superheavy design. Machine table with 1,200 mm wide, ground work surface. Table also available with integrated NC rotary table as an option.
• Stable, almost oversized machine tower 1,100 x 1,060 mm for guiding the saddle boom unit. 2 flat guides, each 165 mm wide, guide the saddle (vertical slide) over a width of 800 mm.
• The boom is guided in a saddle of 1,860 mm length and over 1,100 mm height. These dimensions in combination with precision-ground guide surfaces guarantee excellent geometric accuracy with a Y-path of 1,350 mm - even at "full throat".
• A jib length of 3,050 / 3,350 mm rounds off module dimensions which, in combination with the most modern production methods, are unrivalled. Only the combination of this module design allows a Y-travel of 1,350 / 1,500 mm with high clamping power and very good geometries.
• Z-axis weight compensation via hydraulic system and nitrogen pressure cylinder for "stick-slip"-free Z-movement and thus high positioning accuracy

Feeds and guideways

• HEIDENHAIN® high-performance AC feed servo motors.
• X-axis movement via TWIN-DRIVE drive system. Preloaded rack and pinion and wheel system with 2 reduction gears and 2 servo motors controlled in the MASTER-SLAVE principle.
• HEIDENHAIN® linear scales in all 3 axes are equipped as standard with DA 400 compressed air system as additional protection against contamination and thus malfunctions.
• Generously dimensioned flat guides in the Y/Z axis.
• All guideways hardened and ground. All opposite sides covered with anti-friction material (TURCITE® and/or B-plast) for absolutely "stick-slip" free movement and thus high positioning accuracy.
• Automatic central lubrication of the flat, linear and roller guides with pressure monitoring.

Tower column guide (X axis)

• The machine column travels on generously dimensioned linear guide systems attached to the machine bed at the front. The tower travels backwards on a roller shoe system, which runs on hardened and finely ground steel tracks embedded in the flat guide.
• Only INA® (Germany) linear guidance systems are used.
• The combination of these two guide systems results in lower friction of the axis surfaces and thus higher travel speeds with high positioning accuracy.

Universal vertical milling head, standard

• Universal vertical milling head manually positionable, infinitely adjustable over 2 levels (45° / 90°) as standard
• Maximum spindle speed 4,000 rpm - guaranteed even in continuous operation thanks to the use of high-quality components and head cooling as standard.

• High spindle torques via 2-stage original ZF transmission.
• SIEMENS® / HEIDENHAIN® main spindle motor with 28 kW (100% ED) with high torque for high chip removal rate.
• Head and gearbox cooling as standard, all milling head variants, the ZF gearbox and the drive spindle bearing are cooled by an oil circulation system as standard.
• Complex cooling water system with large-volume cooling circuit. Coolant quantity adjustable via potentiometer on the control panel.
