The KIHEUNG TRAX are fast, linear guided travelling column milling machines and the ideal large milling machines, combined with a high chip volume and at the same time excellent geometrical manufacturing accuracy, when it comes to modular, future-proof expandability, e.g. with plate fields, rotary tables for pendulum machining.
Due to the dynamic linear guides and the innovative FLAT-Ram machine design, where all drive and transmission units, such as spindle motor, ZF-gearbox or belt pulley are placed on the rear area of the arm, the TRAX achieves a geometrical accuracy, high dynamics and still high chip removal rates that are almost unique in this machine class!
All models of the TRAX series, have long traverse paths - up to 12,000 mm in the X-axis and up to 2,000 mm in the Z-axis, extensive standard equipment and extensive options (e.g. infinitely variable automatic milling heads, tool changing systems, cooling through the spindle, chip conveyor systems and much more). With these possibilities the KIHEUNG milling machines can be adapted optimally to your present and future machining needs.
Main assemblies

• The column track, column, saddle, boom and head are made of quality cast iron GG 300, and our own foundries with in-house quality control guarantee consistent quality and appropriate geometry of the machine base.
• The boom is guided in a saddle of 1,735 mm length and 1,100 mm height. These dimensions in conjunction with 3 precision linear recirculating roller bearing and guideway assemblies with ten 45 mm carriages guarantee excellent geometrical accuracy.
• Boom length from 2,490 / 2,690 mm. In combination with the 3-fold guidance of the boom, very good geometries with high chip removal rates are achieved.
• Very stable machine column. Two precision linear guidance systems, each with three 55 mm roller monorail guidance systems, guide the saddle vertically.
• Large column base 1,500 x 2,300 mm. The base is guided on two linear guidance systems each with four 65 mm roller monorail guidance systems. Width of the column bed 1,350 mm.
• A hydraulic system and nitrogen pressure cylinder ensure "stick-slip" free Z-movement and thus highest positioning accuracy.

Feeds and guideways

• High rapid traverse rates of X 25,000 mm/min for dynamic machining at high chip removal rates.
• 3 high-performance SIEMENS® AC feed servo motors.
• X-axis movement via TWIN-DRIVE drive system. Prestressed rack and pinion system with 2 reduction gears and 2 servo motors, one of which "drives" the motor and the other one "brakes".
• Y and Z axis drive via precision ball screws KORTA® with preloaded double nuts.
• HEIDENHAIN® linear scales in all 3 axes with compressed air DA 400 as additional protection against contamination and thus against malfunctions.
• INA® precision linear guidance systems in all three axes. Full complement recirculating units, each generously dimensioned in large numbers, ensure precise running and dynamic machining capability.

Universal vertical milling head, standard (TRAX-U series)

• Universal vertical milling head manually positionable, infinitely adjustable over 2 levels (45° / 90°) as standard
• Maximum spindle speed 4,000 rpm - guaranteed even in continuous operation thanks to the use of high-quality components and head cooling as standard.

Controlled sleeve, standard (TRAX-H series)

• Shaft and pinoll bearing arrangement via high performance ball bearing SNFA®
• Pinol guidance via INA® linear bearings
• Spindle orientation via HEIDENHAIN® encoders

• High spindle torques via 2-stage original ZF transmission.
• SIEMENS® / HEIDENHAIN® main spindle motor with 28 kW (100% ED) with high torque for high chip removal rate.
• Head and gearbox cooling as standard, all milling head variants, the ZF gearbox and the drive spindle bearing are cooled by an oil circulation system as standard.
• Complex cooling water system with large-volume cooling circuit. Coolant quantity adjustable via potentiometer on the control panel.
