The Sigma-Nip electronic nip width analysis system measures the nip widths and the contact surface with which the rolls are pressed against each other. This is possible in real time at the different points along the rolls. The Sigma-Nip system consists of a series of sensors placed between the rolls and an analysis program. The sensors can be positioned quickly and easily, withstand high pressures and simultaneously measure the respective run length with high accuracy and reproducibility. It is the ideal solution for adjusting all types of rollers.
The nip width measuring system consists of various sensors made of thin-film resistance sensors that are positioned at specific points between the rolls. As soon as the sensors are placed, the rollers can be closed.
The Windows based software automatically records the nip widths. They immediately appear on the screen in an easily interpretable manner. The user can immediately see whether the rolls are correctly adjusted or worn.
