Leak tests are divided into two different procedures. A distinction is made here according to EN 1779 for the proof of tightness in overpressure and vacuum processes. Furthermore, there is also a differentiation of the processes according to their area of application.There are leak tests on installed systems such as storage tanks, pipelines, vacuum systems, cooling systems and other systems. Furthermore, there are also leak tests on systems and components in series production. These include series production such as radiator elements, fuel tanks, gas meters, brake lines, fuel filters, injection pump housings, light alloy wheels, etc.The test technology that should best be used always depends on the application. Before a test technique is used, it should be well considered whether it is also the best technique for testing.In series production, for example, worker water bath tests/bubble tests, differential pressure tests, /ultrasonic leak tests and leak tests with special gases are used.But there are also leak tests that take place in space travel.Sound devices have always been used in space shuttles for leak detection in the outer skin of the shuttle so far some time ago. However, it usually took up to a week for the ultrasound devices to complete their work process. For precisely this reason, a new sensor is now being tested, which is to be used for leak testing in space shuttles. The new sensor consists of a total of 64 sensors. It can itself measure the vibrations in the spacecraft generated by the outflowing air. A computer then calculates the exact position of the defect in less than a minute.
