Helium overpressure test: leak detection under practical
conditions In contrast to the leak test using the helium spray method, the helium overpressure test searches for leaks on the atmospheric side. Escaping helium is detected by a sniffer probe. With a detectable leakage rate of 5∙10-8 mbar∙l∙s-1, this method is less sensitive than the helium spray test, but is suitable as a quick, direct test, for example, for checking water leaks in cooling lines.
