Separators, are means and devices which enable a separation process. These are regarded as modification or production processes. They change the shape of a workpiece by removing its structural initial shape. During cutting, the shape of material particles is changed by separating them from the starting workpiece. The number of particles present in the workpiece decreases. In general, the final form is always contained in the original form. Separation processes are the third production process in accordance with the DIN 8580 standard. Other processes that belong to this group are forming, primary forming, joining, coating and changing material properties.
