Briquettes are fuels made from raw material that has been crushed and pressed by the briquetting process. Until the 20th century, briquettes made of lignite were preferred, but more rarely also of hard coal. Softwood briquettes are characterized above all by their rapid burning, whereas hardwood briquettes are characterized by their particularly long flammability. Bark briquettes are particularly suitable for maintaining heat overnight because they have a long service life.Anotherwise, straw, rape or hay briquettes as a renewable raw material are an alternative means of generating heat in contrast to fossil fuels. Briquettes can be used in almost all solid fuel systems such as tiled stoves, fireplaces or central heating. Briquettes are very suitable for heating your own house, as they have a high calorific value with even heat output and low ash development. Their usually uniform shape ensures good stackability and takes up little space.
