Mechanical Presses - Manufacturers, Traders & Suppliers

Mechanical Presses
A mechanical press is used to form a workpiece without cutting, i.e. without material parts being separated or deformed by heat. Depending on the functional principle, a mechanical press consists of a frame which serves as a base for the press table (rotary table principle), a spindle drive and friction wheel drive, eccentric and toggle lever, a ram or press carriage (for generating the main upper ram movement by means of curves), an energy source and a device which moves the ram onto the press table. The press is equipped with an upper and a lower tool (so-called die and die) for punching, forming or cutting metal or workpieces. Production processes with mechanical presses are very fast, since a single operation only takes as long as an impact of the ram.In most cases, the drive technology uses mechanical-hydraulic combined systems. Auxiliary movements can also be driven by pneumatic and hydraulic power transmissions. Compared to hydraulic presses, the maximum pressing forces of mechanically operated presses are limited.Mechanical presses and lifting devices are used in workshops for lifting vehicles and in the construction industry for lifting heavy loads. With the mechanical press metals are formed, pressed or punched and material tests are carried out with high pressures. Devices that generate forces in excess of four million kilograms have been developed for forming entire aircraft parts.Further information and accessories for presses can be found under Press Accessories.
