Bühler Würz Kaltwalztechnik GmbH which has been founded in July 2009 combines decades of experience of the Würz Group with the technical know-how of the well-known cold rolling mill manufacturer Bühler & Co. In its over 125 years of history Bühler supplied plants for over 1.000 applications as such as the automotive industry, the medical technic, the electrical and mechanical engineering as well as for the renewable energy.
The Würz-Group, whose core competences are mechanical precision parts, components and tools for chipless forming, enlarges with the new group member its product range. Rolling mill plants, also simply called rolling mills, are used for the production of steel or non-ferrous metal products. They are used, for example, to produce tubes, steel girders, sheets, rods or strips. The rolling mill plants are therefore an enormously important component of today's industry, as they supply essential components for the construction of buildings and machines. The starting materials used are initially formed into ingots, blocks, billets or slabs, also known as original forms. The semi-finished products are then rolled for further processing. There are different rolling techniques. A distinction is made between hot rolling and cold rolling. In cold rolling, the semi-finished products are passed under the recrystallisation temperature between the pairs of rolls lying one above the other and brought into the desired shape. In hot rolling, on the other hand, the semi-finished products are fed into the rolling process above the recrystallisation temperature. The resulting products can be divided into different categories. For example, long products made of metals and alloys are much longer in proportion than they are thick or wide. In the case of wide flat products, on the other hand, the width of the product is decisive, as the name suggests. Here the width is much larger in relation to the thickness. Other categories are the products of the tube rolling mills, wire rolling mills and section and T-beam rolling mills.
