Transfer cases are used when power flows or torques are to be branched or distributed.PU transfer cases are therefore mainly used in commercial vehicles with all-wheel drive. The transfer case is located behind the vehicle transmission and serves to distribute the power flow or torque from the vehicle transmission output to the axles.The transfer case therefore consists of an input shaft coming from the vehicle transmission and an output shaft leading to the front and rear axle. The input and output shafts are arranged parallel to each other in the oil-filled transfer case and connected to each other via a toothed intermediate shaft.transfer case for permanent all-wheel drive: In this case the front and rear axle output are constantly in engagement with each other. Front and rear axles are permanently driven.transfer case for selectable all-wheel drive:The selectable all-wheel drive is usually a permanent rear-wheel drive with selectable front axle drive. The transfer case also has a manually or pneumatically operated shift sleeve. This serves to connect or disconnect the power flow to the front axle. In this case, the rear axle is permanently driven and, as required, as off-road gear with or without front axle drive.
