There are difficult questions, such as the right heating system for a building. Geothermal heating is particularly suitable for private households. This heating system uses the stored heat of the earth. Only the heat from the ground up to a depth of a few metres is used. This form of heating must be distinguished from geothermal systems. The stored heat energy of the soil is made usable by means of a heat pump. Various systems are used for this purpose. Collectors usually have to be installed in the ground. A special medium in the collectors absorbs the energy of the soil via the temperature. The collectors can either be laid directly in the ground, then one speaks of a geothermal heat pump. With a groundwater heat pump, the energy is taken from the groundwater. The enormous advantage here is the lower investment costs. The energy for the heat pump can also be taken from the ambient air. This is called an air heat pump. The heat pump compresses the medium from the outside by means of a compressor. The temperature increases abruptly during the compaction process. This is used here. The warm or hot output can be fed into the heating system via a heat exchanger. Domestic hot water can also be heated. The only disadvantage of the heat pump is the power consumption of the compressor. This can also be counteracted in connection with a photovoltaic system.
