Temperature exchange for gasses
With air heat exchangers, there is an exchange of temperature between a gas (normally air) and a liquid. Very often air heat exxhangers are also used as waste-gas heat exchangers or smoke-gas heat exchangers for heat recovery.
Lamellae or finned tube
In order to obtain a rather large exchange surface between air and medium (liquid) inside of the heat exchanger thin plates defined as lamellae or finned tube are applied to the pipe system. This heat exchanger type is mainly used in the processing and especially in the air conditioning technology.
The heat exchanger is designed for selective heat extraction from production systems, such as annealing furnace or bakery ovens and their flues.
If no heat is required from the system, the bypass motor is activated to bypass the heat exchanger.
The heat exchanger can recover enough heat to heat a warehouse or offices within the same building. Even the complete hot water requirement of a building can be provided.
High grade stainless steels
The AWT heat exchanger is manufactured from high-grade stainless steel 1.4571/1.4404, a stainless steel that has been in use in high technology flue gas applications for several years. For high stress applications, a version of the AWT made from 1.4539 is available.
For applications involving extremely high flue gas tempratures. An AWT heat exchanger fabricated in stainless steel 1.4828, which has a high nickel content, can be supplied.
Even retrospective installation of an AWT heat exchanger can be cost-effective, praticularly in times of high energy costs, so that pay-back in two to three years can be achieved.

Exhaust gas heat exchangers
The use of an exhaust gas heat exchanger in heating technology ensures the recirculation of waste heat from combustion processes. It thus serves to recycle heat and reduces energy consumption. This means that important raw materials such as wood, coal, crude oil and natural gas can be used gently. The operation of an exhaust gas heat exchanger essentially consists of passing combustion and heating gases through special heat exchangers to help heat the service water. The abrupt cooling of the gases often causes condensation and the release of heat, which in turn is transferred to the boiler water. This system is mostly used in a modernized central heating system but also in the food industry, so some ovens and production plants in bakeries are equipped with this technology.

The term heat exchanger refers to a device which is responsible for the transfer and exchange of heat. Usually a liquid (water) is used as a coolant for the exchange of heat. Old and used room air is simply extracted and fresh air is blown back into the house. A very good example of a heat exchanger is also our car with air conditioning.

Thermal insulation and well sealed windows are ultimately the decisive factor for an energy-conscious living concept. The heat exchanger contained in the ventilation system allows the heat energy to get into the exhaust air, but not outdoors. The thermal energy is passed on to the fresh supply air. The resulting heat loss when opening the windows can be reduced to approx. 5%. Therefore it makes a lot of sense to build a house with heat exchanger as heating to save a lot of money and to do something good for our environment.
