    Spheroidal graphite cast iron is nothing more than nodular graphite cast iron. The abbreviation for this is GJS. Where G stands for cast iron, J for iron and S for spherical. In the past the abbreviation GGG was still in use. Spheroidal graphite cast iron has mechanical properties similar to steel. In contrast to steel, carbon is in the form of non-metallic graphite. Nodular cast iron was used to manufacture tools in ancient China more than 2000 years ago. 30% of the 15 tons produced annually are used for the production of castings such as pipes. Mainly water and gas pipelines are built from it. The other part is used in the automotive industry for nodular cast iron parts such as crankshafts, camshafts or connecting rods. The Castor container is also largely made of cast iron with nodular graphite.
