The solid rotors also allow hydraulic pumping of high viscosity media. The delivery rate is around 1-1000 m³/h, depending on the extent of the fluid viscosity, which reduces the storage of necessary spare parts. Especially compared to progressive cavity pumps, it is easy to repair the product. If, for example, the stable suction behaviour is disturbed by cavitation, no piping system has to be dismantled during repair. As can be read on rotary lobe pump characteristics, they not only operate pulsation-free at high speeds, but can also have a high efficiency. One of the possible disadvantages appears to be the relatively high price, which is however a matter of design. The investment costs may be higher than for other pump types, but if you take these costs into account, you will notice a comparatively long service life, which is due to the low wear (e.g. due to contactless operation). application areas In its function as a means of transport for incompressible fluids only, the rotary lobe pump is used in different areas - its application area extends from the biogas plant to the slurry tank to the fire brigade and even to pharmaceutical operation. Most often stainless steel is used, which means that the manufacturer can guarantee hygienic cleaning. For example, it can be used in the laboratory or in the food industry - in addition to liquid manure or waste water, foodstuffs such as chocolate can also be conveyed. As a stationary installation is not always necessary, you can not only buy the pump, but also rent it. A mobile variant is the rotary lobe pump on a three-point jack, which is mainly used in agriculture. Due to its high weight, the pump was previously not suitable for private use - small and compact pumps, manufactured with alternative construction materials such as plastic, can now also be purchased. Portable by hand, they can be used in places or cellars that are difficult to access.
