Magnetic separators are indispensable for cleaning grinding oils and emulsions. However, the devices offered on the market have considerable differences in performance. In the capacity range from 60 litres/minute to 400 litres/minute, for example, they have a cast aluminium housing and up to 600 litres/minute a welded stainless steel construction. Magnetic separators are often used as main filters within the corresponding filter system. They are used for fully automatic and continuous cleaning of various cooling lubricants during the machining of ferromagnetic materials and for the requirement of a simple degree of purity. The magnetic separator is made of a specially formed cast aluminium housing, inside which a magnetic roller rotates continuously. It is driven by the geared motor. The filter is supplemented by a flexibly mounted rubber pressure roller and a wiper plate. From the inlet container the filter medium takes its way via the overflow edge into the channels to the magnetic roller. The channel outlet is located directly opposite the magnetic poles, so that the liquid finds its way into the rooms with the highest concentration of force lines. Most parts of the ferromagnetic and all other impurities are bound. The post-filtration takes place within a trough-shaped lower part. By continuously rotating the magnetic roller, all deposited impurities move to the discharge point on the scraper plate after a rubber pressure roller has squeezed them dry.
